“Because the truth is this – the first few years of postpartum are going to pull you so far away from who you used to be – and then they’re going to put you back together as the person you’re meant to become.”
– January Harshe
As a doula I believe in holistic support. The Fourth Trimester is a period that is overlooked all too often in western culture. Our focus is more on “getting through” birth and “getting back to normal” in postpartum than honoring our new selves. Postpartum never really ends, so why not wholeheartedly embrace these early experiences and lean into the beauty of growth and change? My hope is to help you and your family transition smoothly and find healthy flow as you travel through the paradigm shift that is postpartum.
I support families in the first twelve weeks of Postpartum. This includes daytime support (within the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m) for the birthing person and their families.
Focus can include:
- Physical and emotional support for the birthing parent
- Newborn care assistance
- Educational support
- Light housework
- Other needs that may be determined by the client and doula
I am specifically trained and certifying as a Postpartum Doula through DONA International, which has given me the tools to provide proper support to families in early Postpartum. I also have in-depth training in perinatal education through the lens of Birth Psychology and offer Body Ready Method®-specific education for perinatal physical support. I am here to support you through this entire transition and I have the resources to support you in the best way possible.
